Name: Jonathan Country: United States State: Washington Metro: Bellingham Birthday: 7/13/1988 Gender: Male
Interests: I'm interested in developing a stronger relationship with God, I'm interested in developing stronger relationships with my friends, and I'm interesting in developing a stronger relationship with my split peronality, Floyd.
I thoroughly enjoy music, and I have pretty eclectic taste. If I don't like something at first, keep forcing me to listen, and eventually it'll probably grow on me! I love playing instruments as well, I do it as often as I can. I play the guitar, the bass, a bit of piano, the mandolin, and some drums.
Reading is always a good past-time, as is sitting on my computer chatting with friends. Expertise: Wandering around downtown Bellingham, coffee-drinking, soup-making, headache-giving, and mishearing something important.
I honestly am an expert at nothing, and would like to keep it that way. By doing so I will ensure that I will always have challenges to overcome and there will always be progress to be made. Occupation: Unemployed/Between Jobs

| Stop and think for a minute.
How do you all really feel about charging someone to hear something with their ears? In some aspects it makes sense; people have to make money. But... honestly.
I'm a musician. My band has aspirations of one day being "big". We'd love to "make it". Yeah, that means relying on our music to make money. But guess what? The point is not the money, it's the music. If people like your music, a lot of them will pay you for it. Take Radiohead, for example. They released their new CD online and let people fill in the price they'd like to pay. They're doing wonderfully! Sure, a lot of people downloaded it for free... but a lot also paid for it, and when you cut out the middle-men of record labels and CD stores, you're making a heck of a lot more profit than before.
I don't have the time or the patience to write a huge article about music and file sharing and the morals and ethics of it all. My point is, make your own informed opinion about it. Do a little research. You'll find that many bands like N.I.N., Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, Oasis, and many many more simply want to get their music out there. Sites like Oink.cd (RIP) and Demonoid.com (RIP) were a terrific facet for the music industry. In my opinion the loss of these sites is a terrible blow. And now artists like Prince are taking legal action against such sites as ThePirateBay.org, and Smashing Pumpkins went and signed deals with Target and Best Buy and Walmart so that you can only get their latest CD in certain places, and certain versions have different tracks, etc... they basically are saying a big FU to the small and local record stores, as well as a lot of people with anti-corporate mentalities.
Wake up musicians. Stop being greedy about this, and get back to playing for the music. Trust me, if you go about it with the right attitude and skill, people will pay you to hear you. You don't have to gouge them, people are a lot more generous than we give them credit for.
And people like Prince who think they're going to be helped by trying to stop sites like the Pirate Bay...well, now I'm just pissed off and if I ever want to hear some Prince, no way in HELL am I going to buy it. I'll pirate that all the way.
Do a little research... Google some stuff about music sharing and the bit torrent community. And hey, if you're involved or want to be involved, find a site you like and donate! Look up Oink's new lair and see if you can join there. Heck, even support the creator in Oink with the legal fund he started... he's going to need it to stay out of jail!
Jail. Jail for enjoying music and helping others enjoy it.
This government pisses me off.
Hats off to the Canadian government though. They got their act together and recently announced they will no longer go after people who are involved with media sharing for their own personal pleasure (about freakin' time). Only people who pirate/resell, or charge people for torrent accounts need to watch their backs, apparently.
Ironic though, seeing as the CRIA just caused Demonoid.com to be shut down...
Grr.

| I feel like scum right about now... scum of the lowest form.

| It's been quite awhile...sorry about that. I've lost touch with the world the last month or two; it's kind of sad. Kind of.
So a couple weeks ago I put in my two-week's notice at Hardlines. It was getting so stressful I could barely stand it. I guess you could say I couldn't stand it, because I quit. So anyway my last day is Friday, and I don't have another job. But I have bills to pay. Lots and lots of bills to pay. I'm trying so very hard not to freak out and get really stressed right now, but it's hard! I do have a couple leads, but one of them (the most promising) is in Sedro Wooley. That would be frustrating to have to commute there everyday...I would have to actually get my license and a car of some sort.
But this whole thing has been a good test of my faith in God's providence. I'm generally speaking not very good at that aspect... in fact lately I've felt spiritually...dead. I'm trying to fix that, but it's slow progress. Please pray for me, I really need it guys.
But more than that, I'd really like you to pray for Althea. She's the best thing to happen to my life and I love her to death... and I want more than anything for her to be saved. I know the prayers of the saints are powerful, and so I need you guys to commit to praying for her consistently with me. I know God can bring her to Him... and I pray it can be through me. She HATES being "witnessed" to (who can blame her, really?), and doesn't care for church and such things. It makes it very hard for me to witness to her. So I have to be a witness by showing her God's love... which means I also need you guys to pray that I'll be the boyfriend that God wants me to be to her. She deserved the best in the world!
Alright, I better get off to one of my last days of work. Au revoir!
